Beginning his composing career for television while still in college, David was introduced to producer Carlos Platon Tornes (Disney’s Aly and AJ) and asked to do additional music for the PBS broadcast of Joseph Rosendo’s Travelscope. Based on the award-winning travel writer’s Travelscope Radio, David’s voice and style were instant fusion for the show and he quickly became the featured composer. Recently attracting national distribution, the show is in production on its 4th season.
David started his music career years before, fronting a band called Billy Music. A band that was heralded by Poppunk.com as "a band far beyond its years,” The group recorded with indie legend Ed Rose (The Anniversary, The Get Up Kids) and traveled across the country performing with acts such as Dashboard Confessional, Jimmy Eat World, The Spill Canvas, and many more.Featured on Deep Elm’s Emo Diaries 5 and an artist on New York’s Re-ignition Records (formerly Law of Inertia), the group disbanded in 2002.
Recently, the completion of the horror flick Slices (McCurry Films, Zenweasel Films) has allowed David to expand into feature film. His music is also presented on selected webisodes of Secret Fridays (Salsera Prods) and the music library Human Factor.
"David Paul Dorn is one of the most creative composers I have ever met. His contributions to Travelscope have enhanced immensely the series, adding depth, clarity – and soul. In addition, although he is the consummate artist– he, fortunately, has been blessed without the temperamental artist’s personality. He is, in fact, a joy with which to work." - Joseph Rosendo - Executive Producer and Host of Travelscope
